SSR in India

Recently, Dr. Barton Bishop represented Sport and Spine Rehab as he traveled to India to conduct several training sessions for Thera-band. During these training sessions, he taught participants about the use of Thera-band equipment. Training was conducted at locations such as the Army Sports Institute and Nanavati Hospital in Mombai.

One lecture specifically addressed to use of Thera-band equipment in the rehabilitation of shoulder injuries. It was held at the World Confederation of Physiotherapy India and Western Pacific Meeting for more than 350 people. Through this experience, Dr. Bishop was afforded the opportunity to educate and interact with physical therapists from countries around the world, such as New Zealand, Thailand, China, and the Americas.

Recent Achievements of our SSR doctors....We employ the best!

Congrats to Dr. Dave Thibodeaux, the clinic director at our Chevy Chase location, for recently being published in the December 2008 edition of The Edge quarterly journal! His case study featured the treatment of a rare hand condition, of which he used the Graston technique to treat. Dr. Thibodeaux was able to achieve great success with the Graston treatment, fair superior to the five months of physical therapy that the patient had previously received.

Another huge achievement for an SSR doctor, Dr. Bishop has been named an official clinic instructor for the George Washington University School of Medicine. Sport and Spine Rehab has worked closely with the GWU School of Medicine for years, allowing medical students to complete rotations within our clinics. Congratulations to Dr. Bishop for this honor!

As if those accomplishments weren't enough....we aren’t even done yet! We are pleased to announce that Dr. Huffman, the clinic director at our Landover clinic, has been named as a Top Doctor of the Year by DrScore.com. He ranked amongst the top out of 64,000 physicians across the county. DrScore.com is a website that allows patients to anonymously provide feedback for their doctors and search for rankings. All SSR patients are encouraged to provide feedback for our doctors using DrScore.com.

SSR of Rockville qualifies for third round of APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Competition

The APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) recognized SSR of Rockville, MD as qualifying for the third round of their Credentialed Clinical Instructor Competition. SSR met the challenge of having 100% of their designated clinic instructors to successfully complete the APTA Clinical Instructor Education and Credentialing program. SSR was one of seven facilities, the only in the DC metro area, to accomplish this and move forward to the third round of competition.
This achievement demonstrates SSR's ongoing efforts in providing the highest quality clinical training for students and care for patients.
